BoostedBoiz Youtube Channel Introduces A New Duramax Drag Build

If you’re on YouTube following different automotive-style channels, you may have come across the channel titled “BoostedBoiz“. The BoostedBoiz channel is anything and everything import performance, but things have changed. Channel newcomer Wyatt Stengel has jumped on board to be with the channel’s owner, Kyle Wade, to help bring us some great content while bringing his build with him.

Why are we talking about an import-heavy channel, you may ask. Well, Wyatt’s entrance to the channel came with a few things of his own including his build that has been under the knife over the last few years. What it has transformed into now is actually a frankenstein-esque build where multiple vehicles have been combined into one.

“I’ve been at this build for a few years now. This started as an idea to help market my diesel shop in Colorado, but things have changed. I grew up and decided I wanted to do things with my friends like move to Florida and create YouTube content full-time,” Wyatt said. “I wanted to keep this build going so I’ve brought it along for the ride and we’ll now be creating videos of the ongoing progress.”

This was Wyatt’s first truck that was used as a donor for the build that you see now.

Wyatt’s sick old-school truck actually has a mixture of the original 1970 GMC truck and his first truck, a 2003 Duramax-powered Sierra. “This truck was bought new in Boulder, Colorado, and has been passed down in the family where I eventually acquired it,” Wyatt said. “The K15 has been cursed with getting into accidents so I felt like this was the best way to end that. (Turn it into what it is now)”

What once was a cursed vehicle on the road has now been turned into something that will tear up the dragstrip in hopefully under nine seconds.

The truck’s final on-road accident was a pretty disastrous head-on collision, and with the cost that came with that for repair, Wyatt decided to take his perfectly good running truck, remove the body, and set this body on top of it. “All that remains from the original ’03 truck is a few feet of the frame rails and the engine. The rest has been fabricated to fit the drag-style chassis,” Wyatt said.

Because of the delays in shifting on the Allison transmissions the Duramax’s are usually backed by, it isn’t optimal for drag racing. This is why Wyatt decided to go with a 4L80E transmission instead. A full tube chassis rear, a lighter transfer case, a 1,400-1,700-horsepower LB7 powerplant combination, and a 25.6-cert roll cage are all things that are done or that are on the to-do list for this ongoing build.

The engine features a Callies crankshaft, CP Carrillo connecting rods, MAHLE forged pistons, and more. We’re excited to follow this build and fill you guys in with what is happening. Stay tuned to Diesel Army for more on this sweet K15 drag truck build. What are your thoughts on turning this into a dragstrip monster? Let us know in the comments below!
