When it comes to showing off, nothing makes a bigger display or smoke cloud than a regular American diesel truck. Over in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the guys behind Dyno for Dex 2.0 aren’t just there to have fun and spew soot while competing in dyno runs and drag racing; they’re there to make a difference in diesel drivers’ lives, too.
The name of the show is an homage to Dex Brown, a young, popular diesel enthusiast who was killed in a serious car accident on the way home from a party back in 2012. His passing left a wide hole in the local and diesel community, but Brown’s friend Nick Carson decided to turn things around and bring some joyful memories back by creating the Dyno for Dex event last year.
“Dex and I had always talking about putting together an event in Tulsa with cars and trucks,” said Carson. “[It was not supposed to be a] real serious or competitive event, just something for everyone to get together and have fun.”

“Last year I put together a small event at a local dyno shop, we had probably 50 vehicles, most of which were diesels, and word got out about how much fun it was. So in starting to plan this year’s event I quickly realized that the shop that hosted the event last year was definitely not going to be big enough.”
As chief organizer, Carson has been working doubly hard to make this year’s event another wild success. He’s managed to secure the services of the local dragstrip at the Tulsa Raceway Park, while also holding the dyno runs, a show ‘n shine, and live entertainment. All signs point toward the show being another home run, while all the proceeds from the fiesta will go toward starting a fund to help racers recoup from unfortunate accidents, Carson states.
We hope Dyno for Dex 2.0 goes well this year, and encourage all of you to show your support by visiting the event’s Facebook page, where you can see photos and swap stories with fellow fans. Learn more about the show below.
