The Lone Star State is about to get a whole lot less lonely! That’s because tomorrow and Saturday will feature one of the largest diesel events in the country.
That’s right, we’re talking about the National Hot Rod Diesel Association (NHRDA) World Finals, taking place where it all began in April of this year: the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas.
This is the last of 10 NHRDA events that took place in 2016, with others rolling coal through such locales as Tulsa, Oklahoma; Madison, Illinois; and even Edmonton all the way up in Alberta. We at Diesel Army were last here in 2014 and had a heck of a time then, and we are hoping 2016 is another blowout extravaganza of speed and smoke.
Tomorrow, Friday the 30th, will be the kickoff. Starting at 10am, competitors in the fan favorite sled pull will line up and get ready to duke it out. Tech inspections and weigh-ins will run from 3 to 5pm, and the actual sled pull will begin at 6pm.
Saturday will be the blowout day, starting early and going on into the evening with drag racing, dyno pulls, burnout contests, and a Show-N-Shine. Anyone wanting to strut their truck’s stuff can start coming in at 7am, while regular spectators can arrive at 9am. The rest of the day will be as follows:
- 10am: Drag Racing
- 9am-3pm: Show-N-Shine
- 9am-4pm: Dyno Pulls
- 4pm-end of racing: Burnout Contest
- 7pm: Year End Awards Banquet
We’re looking forward to all of the diesel madness about to unfold once more here in Ennis, and will keep you up-to-date with Facebook and Instagram posts. Stay tuned to Diesel Army!
