When you think about a tire company that has influenced hot-rodders, and enthusiasts for ages, one company that comes to mind is Mickey Thompson. They’ve been around since 1963 and have built a reputation in the industry as one of the highest quality, longest lasting tires with aggressive styling.
They pride themselves on being a company for enthusiasts stating, “Mickey Thompson built his products to WIN—he built them from necessity. We hold fast to Mickey’s values, his unceasing drive for faster—better.” This statement got me wondering what real people thought of their Mickey Thompson tires, so I decided to use social media to find out.

Nick’s 2nd gen Dodge Ram is a stunner on these 36-inch Mickey Thompson tires which really set it off from the crowd.
What I discovered was there was a large variety of enthusiasts who were or have had used Mickey Thompson tires in the past. Many of the respondents said they loved them, and in their experience, they were outstanding in all conditions, with great longevity. One respondent stated, his dad had been using them for the past eight years, and he planned on getting a set as soon as he could.
One individual, in particular, I connected with was Nick Nold. Some of you who may be familiar with him on Instagram. His page has amassed just over 24,000 followers largely due to the lifted styling, and aggressive wheels and tires. Nold is running the 36-inch by 15.50-inch Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ P3’s and is in love with how they look on his rig.
The MTZ P3 is designed to be a mud tire that can be used in many different environments. This tire has some features that help it stand out from the crowd such as Silica-reinforced tread that aids in wet weather performance and longevity, and a self-cleaning tread pattern that doesn’t retain mud and rocks like some mud tires are known for doing.

Nick’s truck doesn’t just hold down the pavement, he lets it stretch its legs in the mud with his Baja MTA P3 tires.
According to Nold, “I love the aggressive look. Plus they do great in muddy terrains. I got them because I’ve always wanted a set and they were the only ones that make 15.5-inch wides. I enjoy these tires so much, I’m already planning on getting another set!” Nick’s pictures speak for themselves, he’s definitely not afraid to take this beautiful rig through the mud, so believe Nold when he says the MTZ P3 is great in the mud.
As for street use, Nick tells us that he has daily driven with the MTZ P3 and they are a well-behaved tire, although they can be a little loud he says that’s nothing a rolled-up window won’t fix. A little noise is expected from a purpose-built mud tire, so I think I speak for the majority that we aren’t surprised by a little noise. We are excited to see what else Nold has in store for his truck and how many more mud bogs he can run his Mickey Thompsons through! They clearly have served him well!
With such a wide variety of tires from Mickey Thompson, they are sure to have a tire suited for your needs. We look forward to seeing what else this legendary tire company has in store for the offroad truck crowd.
