These days large racing sanctioning bodies are getting harder and harder to come by. In the diesel realm there are only a couple of major players in the business. One of them, who has been gaining quite a following the last few years is the NHRDA (National Hot Rod Diesel Association). Recently, the NHRDA thought it would be important to be evaluated in the hopes of adding a new certification to their list of achievements.
The ASO status is given to those organizations that have passed all of the criteria laid forth by the NHRA endorsing them as a valid racing body that conducts professional and organized events on a national level. Some of the criteria considerations are : professional organized national events, safety rules, class designations, national point tracking and precise record keeping.
“After five years of reaching out to the NHRA about this certification and not hearing anything back, we were beyond excited when they responded this year willing to consider us for this prestigious certification,” states Randy Cole, President of the NHRDA. “Then when they looked into our organization and found us to be worthy of this new designation, we couldn’t help but smile and wanted to tell the world about it. We truly strive to keep all of our events at a highly efficient, professional level and this just proves we are moving in the right direction,” Cole continued.
According to Cole, ” There are like over 200 racing organizations in the USA and there are only handful that meet the NHRA standards and get ASO status. This is not only a good thing for the NHRDA, but for diesel motorsports in general as the NHRA is the biggest race organization in the world and it now recognizes our sport as a legitimate form of drag racing and that the NHRDA has proven over the years we deserve this status.”
Cole was quick to note that none of this would be possible without the continued support of the great sponsors they have had along the way and continue to work with today. Congratulations to the NHRDA on their latest accomplishment.
