Ram showed up to the 2025 Texas Truck Rodeo with something to prove, and the all-new Ram Heavy Duty Warlock made sure the message was heard loud and clear. After a full day of mud, towing, incline climbs, and rough-terrain punishment, the Warlock drove away with the title of Heavy Duty Pickup Truck of Texas, signaling Ram’s latest move to expand its off-road dominance in the diesel HD segment.

Hosted by the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA), the annual Texas Truck Rodeo event pits the toughest trucks in the industry against rugged terrain, pulling tests, and real-world capability challenges.
The Warlock doesn’t pretend to be anything it isn’t. It’s built exclusively as a 2500 4×4 Crew Cab with a 6-foot 4-inch bed. Under the hood, the standard gasoline 6.4-liter HEMI V8 provides stout power, but diesel fans will immediately point to the available 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel. Yes, the Cummins upgrade adds nearly $13,000 to the price tag, but for anyone who tows heavy or loves diesel torque, that investment pays for itself with every loaded highway pull and steep hill climb.

What helped the Warlock secure its title as the Heavy Duty Pickup Truck of Texas was its perfect mix of capability and value. The off-road package is more than cosmetic. Bilstein performance-tuned shocks help absorb the hits, while a limited-slip differential maintains traction when the trail gets loose. Hill descent control gives drivers confidence on technical declines, and transfer-case skid plates protect vital components during rocky crawls. All-terrain tires mounted to 20-inch Diamond Cut wheels give the truck a confident and aggressive stance that matches its purpose.

Ram didn’t neglect visibility either. The Warlock features class-exclusive power convex trailer tow mirrors, a small but meaningful edge for HD owners who regularly haul tall or wide trailers. And while the exterior offers seven color options and an unmistakable Warlock bedside decal to set it apart, the cabin is built for real-world use. Black cloth 40/20/40 split-bench seats, carpeted flooring, and front and rear all-weather mats keep the truck comfortable without making you afraid to track in dirt after a day outside.
Starting at just over $57,000 (for the Hemi), the Warlock delivers the off-road attitude of a specialty model without the premium-trim sticker shock. A winning combination—capability you can feel, a look that turns heads, and a price that leaves room for accessories—made a strong impression on the Texas Auto Writers Association.

Texas doesn’t hand out trophies to posers. The judges reward trucks that can work all week, explore on the weekends, and take a beating in between. With its Cummins power, dedicated off-road setup, and rugged personality, the Ram Heavy Duty Warlock has earned its crown as the Heavy Duty Pickup Truck of Texas. And after conquering Texas, it’s clear this truck is just getting started.
