Walking around the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza you could see diesel trucks for miles, but some of them would catch your attention and make you want to walk over and get a closer look. This was the case with Jonathan Huie’s 2003 GMC Sierra 3500HD that we spotted at the show-n-shine.
“I bought the truck about three years for a parts truck,” Jonathan Huie explained. “It had been totaled and was sitting in the owners back yard, but after looking it over, I decided to rebuild it.” From scrap to show truck this white diesel is loaded down with custom parts. The truck has a 6-inch Fabtech, Rancho shocks, and is sitting on 20×12 Anthem Enforcer wheels wrapped in 36×12.50R20 Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ.

From parts truck to show truck, Jonathan Huie has turned this truck around and made it into an attention grabber.
“After using it as a work truck for awhile it started to become a way to advertise for RetroDiodes LEDs, and that is why it has so many light bars,” Huie said. In addition to all the lightbars the truck also has an AFE Magnum Force cold air intake, straight exhaust with axle dump with 5-inch tip, PPE boost valve, 700HP ATS transmission, EFILive PPEI by Kory Willis, ProFab turbo horn, upgraded transmission cooler, traction bars, Cognito Motorsports steering brace kit, and Rare Parts G2 tie rods.
“I don’t have a shop and I’ve done all the work on it myself,” Huie continued. “I change the truck up quite a bit, trying new ideas and looks. There’s always something that can make it look better.” It may look like a truck that a shop built, but it has been a labor of love for Huie and something that he can pride himself in saying he did himself.

This truck look familiar? You may have seen this beast on your Instagram feed. Jonathan Huie’s Instagram has more than 220,000 followers.
Looks aren’t everything. It may have been clean at the show-n-shine, but Huie let us know it does see some dirt. “I regularly take it off-road, nothing too crazy, though,” Huie said. “I did get a chance to take it through the off-road arena at the Unlimited Offroad Expo this past summer.”
One of the first thing to catch our attention was all the LED lights and according to Huie, “My favorite modification is all the lights. I get lots of compliments on them at shows, and they are what draw the most attention.”
LED lights are all over this truck. They can be found in on the front of the truck, flush mounted in the tailgate, and even in the tail lights.
As with any project, this truck is never finished. “I plan on doing a solid axle swap on it sometime in future along with an air ride system,” Huie said. Regardless of what gets added and changed, we know that it will look great, as everything that he has touched so far has turned to gold.
“I don’t have any future shows lined up the rest of this year,” Huie explained. “But I’m sure I will attend a few!” If you spot this truck out at a show make sure you stop by and check out all the little details that have been added.
