Remember last week when Tupac’s Hummer went up for sale? It was previously sold back in May 2016 for $337,000, but the winning bidder defaulted on the payment. This forced the Hummer to return to the auction block on August 10th, 2017, with an estimate of $100,000.
Well now the auction has closed, and Tupac’s Hummer sold for $206,531. The winning bidder is a businessman from Baltimore who, at this time, wishes to remain anonymous. Although some may consider the sale price to be too high, the value of Tupac’s Hummer will only rise with time. Especially if the new owner continues to maintain its pristine condition.
Not only was the Hummer itself sold, but also some other items. These included a Marilyn Monroe vintage matte-finish portrait which sold for $23,882, J. K. Rowling signed ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ Book which sold for $13,452, Andy Warhol screen print series of signed Mick Jagger postcard photographs which sold for $13,133, and finally a Prince original oversized 1977 Photograph by Robert Whitman that sold for $12,251.
Tupac purchased this Hummer on August 16, 1996, about a month before he, unfortunately, passed away. He had some modifications done to, including; 38-inch Dick Cepek tires, roof-mounted spotlights, an external PA system with three sirens, and a 12,000-pound winch.
We don’t expect to see this Hummer on dirt anytime soon. It’s currently in absolutely pristine condition, and wheeling it could compromise the perfect condition. Who knows when the new owner will sell it, but we hope he takes good care of it until then.
