I know you saw my previous article announcing the 2024 UCC that talked about everything that will be happening at the 2024 Ultimate Callout Challenge (UCC), and with the popularity of the event growing each year, the 2023 event was more than just a diesel truck event, it was three days of controlled chaos. I started to wonder about what records in 2024 might get usurped — especially those made on the dragstrip. For the last several years, many diesel records have been shattered and I was wondering if that might get repeated this year. Can diesel-powered trucks and cars keep getting faster or is there a limit?
Take for instance, at the 2023 event, Mattie Graves broke an ODSS Pro Dragster record with a 4.0-second pass. To take home the trophy for the ODSS Pro Dragster class. In other racing, Charlie Fish ran an overall best eighth-mile time of 5.329 seconds. Tony Burkhart barely edged out Charlie Fish with a best time of 5.312 seconds. However, the quickest pass came from Hunter Coffey with an eighth-mile time of 5.111 seconds.
Next was the Dyno shootout. The horsepower numbers last year made many enthusiasts wonder how much more can be had. Our Third Place finisher on the dyno was Tony Burkhart with a best pull of 2379.1 horsepower while runner-up, Hunter Coffey made 2436 horsepower. But the top dog in 2023 was Josh McCormack making 2879.5 horsepower.
Saturday night and Sunday sled pulling is always a crowd favorite. Diesel enthusiasts hung around as the sun set on Saturday and dealt with some rain delays throughout the evening. The runner-up for the UCC sled pulling was Brian Shaw, yanking the sled 311.77 feet. However, First Place went to Chris Patterson with a distance of 315.94 feet.
Will the 2024 event see the familiar names in diesel competition come back and take home the trophies, or will new competitors step up and de-throne the 2023 winners? I suggest you get to the 2024 Ultimate Callout Challenge to witness the outcome for yourself. Why read about what happened after the event is over? Be there so you can tell your friends that saw everything happen.
