The good folks of Houston, Texas have just earned a few more fans from us here at Diesel Army. We’re in love with this classic Blue Oval pickup, Project Battletoad, and its low-slung, rat rod-esque approach.
We caught this video during a search through Vimeo and had to know more, so we called up the shop responsible for the build, Power Stroke Enginuities. We were fortunate enough to speak with Kevin Pryor, who told us what he could about the truck while its owner, Dorian Reyna, was taking care of personal business.
“We’re everything when it comes to Power Strokes, it’s what we do,” explained Pryor, when asked about what PSE was. “From the 7.3s to the 6.7s, oil changes, full builds, the works.” Pryor stated that Reyna, who is also the shop owner, had built the truck (a 1964 Ford F100) as a tribute to his fallen brothers in arms. Reyna is a former Marine and field instructor.
We didn’t manage to get an explanation behind the name for the truck, but what we’ve seen in this video tells us plenty already. It’s low, it’s loud, and it’s meant to get your attention. “The motor is a 6.0-liter Power Stroke with, I believe, a BorgWarner S366 turbocharger,” said Pryor. He couldn’t confirm what was next for the build, but he did tell us that it is a “work in progress, and started about three or four years ago.”
If this is awesomeness is just the current state of Project Battletoad, we can only imagine what the finished product will be. What do you think of this badass Ford? Let us know in the comments below.
