Tug-a-truck is an exciting addition to the diesel motorsports competitive arena. Many events these days are adding a tug-a-war component to let competitors put it all out there head to head in an old fashioned competition. We have always found this form of combat to be exciting and fun filled, unless of course it’s not a fair fight.
With that said, the guys at Diesel Sellerz are always up for anything. Lately, they have been putting their MegaRamRunner to the test in as many different formats as they can. This has included rock crawling in Moab, UT, drag racing and sled pulling. But, there hasn’t been a true tug-a-truck competition to add to that mix until now.
While filling up the MegaRamRunner at a local gas station, their hard working neighbors, the Most Wanted Drilling Crew, decided to challenge them to show them what it was like to face a truck with an equal amount of power that tows incredibly heavy loads for a living. And thus a challenge was born. Both sides assembled in the dirt at Diesel Sellerz and decided to hook up to have a good old fashioned tug-a-war fight. The competitors? The MegaRamRunner 600HP Cummins and 4 gears that has towed a max of 40,000 lbs with vs. a 1992 Marmon semi truck with 500 HP CAT engine and 18 gears that regularly tows 150,000 lbs.
The action starts and it seems like one side might be a clear and away winner, but the dirt starts flying and both trucks are sliding a very small amount. The MegaRamRunner starts to weave back and forth looking for a traction advantage while the Marmon just stays in it and works through the gears. Finally, after what seems an eternity, they turn the motors off and measure. Turns out that both trucks, even with the movement they have shown, ended up exactly where they started. So, what’s that mean? It’s a tie.
We truly hope that the Diesel Sellerz guys will line up a rematch with the Most Wanted Drilling Crew in the future and put this neighborhood rivalry to rest. However, it was interesting to see one challenge that was at least a little bit of a struggle for the MegaRamRunner as well.
