WTF: This 2500 Took A Turn For The Worse

Welcome back to Wrecked Truck Friday – WTF – as we continue to check out the recently deceased rigs out there in need of a rescue. This week, we’re checking out a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 out in Asheville, North Carolina.

By and large, most of these vehicles we run here on WTF are broken and beaten, but they still at least have all four wheels. Meaning, there’s at least a smidgen of a possibility it could still roll onto the trailer to take home.

A sway bar emerges from the front wheel well, where a tire should be. What the heck happened?!

But this Cummins? Hoo, boy, she is a beater. Both front wheels are clearly missing, with deflated rear tires and a sway bar poking out of the passenger front wheel well.

It isn’t until we get to the driver’s side that we get a better picture of how this truck came to its permanent stop. Right in the middle is a giant indent, suggesting a severe T-bone crash. It’s bent in both doors, the B-pillar, and possibly even the frame.

A massive T-bone hit to the driver's side explains why the truck wound up in the scrapyard.

That doesn’t bode well for a complete restoration. Hypothetically speaking, even if money were no object, we’d have a hard time justifying rescuing this silver Dodge.

Still, perhaps some part of the pickup can live on: its 24-valve Cummins. With the hood open, we can see that the motor looks near-perfect. We can’t find any splotches of fluids slung all over the place, nor any twisted metal or fouled-up wiring. Unfortunately, the truck won’t start, so it’s a toss-up if the engine is in fact okay or not.

What do you guys think about this 2500? Let us know in the comments below.
