It’s not every day we come across a performance shop that has multiple feature worthy trucks. Usually, shops spend their money on one “key” vehicle and the rest of the fleet is just mildly built or modified. So, when we came across the guys at Street To Sand Off Road and Performance and were presented with a pair of trucks we figured why not just make them a boxed set and include them together in one fantastic feature! So, that is just want we are going to do.
Meet Randy Pratt and Dustin Mileham. They are the co-owners of a Street to Sand Off Road and Performance located in Reno, NV. Recently, they submitted their two stunning trucks to be considered for our Reader’s Ride Of The Week on Facebook; but we wanted to see more!
Now, let’s get started. First up is Pratt’s custom built 2012 Ram 3500 Mega Cab. Being from Nevada, it makes sense that this truck was originally built for the SEMA Show. Originally finished in 2012, the truck did the show, was driven and shown all of last year and then just before the 2013 SEMA Show, they put the truck back under the knife and “freshened” it up a bit. This is pretty common among show trucks because it is the best way to get a return on their investment. What is nice to see is that now that show season is over, Pratt is back to driving this truck around daily!
From the exterior it is hard to miss the 10” lift by BDS Suspensions lift paired with a set of Fox Racing Shocks. Pratt needed that big of a lift to clear the 38×13.5R24 Nitto’s wrapped around a set of 24” BMF Wheels custom painted by Elite Customs. But, Elite Customs didn’t stop there…they went ahead and added a custom paint scheme throughout the entire truck. This was of course after the Fusion Bumpers front and rear were added with Rigid Industries lighting.
The exterior, also, features Recon taillights, BMF grille, AMP Research running boards Hellwig Products Sway Bar, and stainless steel brake lines. To help turn those massive meats a PSC Motorsports hydro assist steering kit was, also, added. To top things off, if you for some reason didn’t see this thing coming at you, Pratt is happy to let you know he has arrived thanks to a giant set of 180 db train horns running off the on-board air system. Clearly, this is one truck that knows how to make an appearance whether on the street or in the sand.
Under the hood you will find a 6.7L Cummins engine with an S&B Filters Cold Air Intake that allows the turbo to breathe better. The engine features ARP headstuds, 50 horsepower injectors, Airdog 200 fuel system, Snow Performance water/methanol injection system and a 5” Diamond Eye Performance exhaust. For tuning the Pratt opted for an H&S Performance Mini Max. To add a little bit of extra “wow factor” when you pop the hood, Street to Sand custom machined a piece of billet aluminum out and made a one piece valve cover! Behind the engine the factory 68RFE transmission has been upgraded to a stage 5 fully built ATS transmission. The power is then sent back to the factory rear end that has a 4.10:1 gear ratio.
On the inside, there is a full audio/video system in the truck. The system starts out with a Kenwood double din head unit that is not only a radio but features navigation and can play DVDs. The audio signal is sent to a pair of JL Audio HD amplifiers (1200/1 and 600/4). The 600/4 feed the JL Audio C5 component speakers mounted in the doors while the 1200/1 supplies the wattage to get the W3V3 sub kicking in the back. To top the electrical system off, Street to Sand custom wired a full GPS tracking alarm system into the truck!
The seats are covered in black leather with the Street to Sand logos added into them for effect. Even the headliner is custom black suede.
Now that we have gotten a good look at one of their vehicles, it’s time to take a tour of the second one. Dustin Mileham’s 2009 White GMC 3500 powered by a Duramax is currently the “shop truck.”
Mileham not only drives this thing daily, but at any given time, there are two car seats in the back for his girls! This really drives home the fact that it is his daily driver and family vehicle. With this being the shop truck, Mileham routinely hooks to a trailer. During the summer, any given weekend he is hauling a either a truck or multiple sand toys to and from the shows, events or the desert.

This hot GMC does stand tall thanks to a 7” BDS suspension. The upper controller arms were swapped out in favor of the stronger Cognito Motorsports’ a-arms. The torsion bars are retained with the BDS system, but Mileham did upgrade most of the steering linkage to ensure nothing breaks or gives way.
Under the hood things are kept pretty simple. A S&B CAI and Diamond Eye Performance exhaust help the engine inhale and exhale better. Tuning is done by Mileham via EFILive. He did install a DSP5 switch to let him switch between settings easier. The entire system is monitored by an Edge Products CTS Monitor. To keep up with fuel demands, an AirDog 165 lift pump was added to the system.
The power is send back through the factory transmission, but Mileham did upgrade it with a TransGo shift kit. From there the power is redirected out to the rear wheels via a 4.56:1 gear ratio. The power is transmitted through a set of 10 Lug American Force 22” Octane wheels wrapped in 37×13.50/22 Toyo Open Country MT’s.
Even though the wheels and tires are flashy, Mileham did opt to upgrade his grille to a Status Grilles with a custom Street to Sand logo in the center. The truck, also, received a large decal between the doors to let everyone know who built the truck.
All we have to say is if this is the shop truck we certainly wouldn’t mind driving it. Especially on long hauls because Mileham installed a custom dvd player with monitors in the head rests (for the girls)!
