The Humvee has been an iconic vehicle for our military and for auto enthusiasts alike. The vehicle has more then just good looks going for it, but the time has come for the Humvee to hang up its badge and let the new sheriff take control.
The Oshkosh Trucks won the JLTV (Joint Light Tactical Vehicle) contract for the US Military, but recently decided what would be powering this beast. The vehicle has been in testing since 2005, making sure that it would be the best possible.
The JLTV will be powered by a Banks engine that is optimized for power-to-weight ratio while providing superior acceleration, mobility and speed on grade capability. The Banks 866T turbo diesel engine has improved fuel economy in both idle and operational modes.

Testing a vehicle that will be protecting our troops is a very high priority, and what a better way to test a vehicle then racing in one of the most extreme off-road races in the world, the Baja 1000. Banks has been teamed up with Oshkosh for some time now and the race was just another obstacle they would overcome together.
“This is a fact, for the last 58 years, when we race we win! The Banks JLTV military engine development project was treated with the same intensity and excellence we apply to everything we race and everything we manufacture. But this win was against the most powerful defense contractors in the world, and it took 10 years. I’m damn proud of that and I’m damn proud of the people I get to work with,” Gale Banks proudly said.
This truly is a great partnership and it will surely be something that our troops can count and depend on to get them further then just from point A and B.
