Last year Hollywood was on an apocalypse kick with a number of world-ending movies, chief among them Mad Max: Fury Road. As much about crazy cars as it was about a water-driven apocalypse, the revival of this beloved movie series seems to have bled over into the custom car community. The number of rusted-out, over-sized, end-of-the-world-themed-rides seems to only be growing, and one need not look beyond the hallowed halls of SEMA to see what we mean.
While the famous aftermarket show is already well in our rear view, this quick flick from 1320Videos of a 6X6 Ford F-350 worthy of Immortan Joe won’t take much of your time, while still giving you a good idea of this redonkulous beast.
Under the hood is a Powerstroke motor massaged to make about 700 horsepower according to Dave Sparks (AKA “Heavy D” as he is known on the Discovery Channel’s show “Diesel Brothers”). However, the real draw of this beast is its incredible suspension and lift kit that includes three independent heavy duty axles and 15 inches of suspension travel. It all rides on a massive air suspension setup to support the six-doors and six oversized seats.
Really, oversized is the best work to describe every aspect of this build, from the stretched cab to the monster tires. Even more incredible, this beast was equipped with six-wheel steering, mean it can “crab walk” sideways across a parking lot, or just to fit into a “narrow” parallel parking spot. Everything is overbuilt to the extreme, including the motor, which has been worked over from every angle so you won’t be caught without enough power should the situation call for it.
Maybe if Immortan Joe had been driving this, Fury Road would have had a much different ending.
