Diamond Pistons continues to push the envelope in the performance diesel marketplace and has released its street diesel performance pistons for the high performance diesel marketplace, with the introduction of their HD and XD-series pistons.
Specifically for high performance ¾ and 1 ton pickups, the Diamond Pistons offering will initially be available for the GM Duramax, Dodge Cummins, and Ford Powerstroke platforms. European diesel and tractor platforms will follow in the second half of the year. Preorders will be available starting after the SEMA show.
“We were able to perfect the forging process to get the better material (2618 alloy) with a forged steel ring land for use on the street,” said Trend Performance’s J.J. Zimmerman. “There is a big void in the market right now with these high horsepower diesels where a competition style piston would break apart the top ring lands. The steel insert allows a factory style ring stack to work with the bigger boost.”
The HD and XD-Series Pistons are designed with a steel top ring groove insert – for maximum durability and will work with OEM and Aftermarket cylinder heads. According to the company spokespeople, the pistons have a 3D radius and contoured dish with wide; de-lipped bowl for larger tuning windows; are setup for premium 1/16, 1/16, 3/16 ring package and include premium H-13 .330W DLC coated wrist pins.
Zimmerman added, “Bore size we can go up to as much as four inch, 550 down with this style piston to three inch, 700 on the small Power Stroke platform.”
