It was an all-diesel day for those surrounding the heartland this past weekend. FAS Performance of St. Peters, Missouri put on an all-diesel day event at the historic Gateway Motorsports Park on July 15th.
Up for grabs was the $750 to each class winner, dyno competition, and fastest elapsed time on the drag strip. There were multiple trucks attempting for big power and low numbers laying it all on the line for the cash.
During this event, Jessey Rhodes of Straightline Diesel Performance broke, what we believe, was the record for fastest manual transmission quarter mile time. Rhodes hit the traps at 11.280 at 126.20 mph.
Expecting a high 11 or 12-second pass on an untested setup, “I cannot believe it went that fast,” said Rhodes. “I’ve got enough miles per hour for 10-second passes. I just need some traction.” Unfortunately, Rhodes didn’t better his record pass.
A blast from the past was handed to the fans this weekend as driver Chris Calkens brought out his beautiful, Duramax-powered “Orange Crush.” This truck was not missed, as the sun beat down on the bright orange paint job. Calkens was happy with his best pass of the day at 9.98 seconds at 137 mph.
Track Lab Dyno was set up for fans to dyno their truck for the possible $750 prize. After dozens of trucks were on and off the dyno, Jessey Rhodes took the victory with 743 horsepower!
Overall it was a great day at the track with plenty of action. Be sure to check out the gallery below full of highlights from the days events.
