Race Review: BD Diesel 1st Annual Dirt Drags

The diesel performance industry is growing greatly, but some are limited on where they can display the power they pay for. BD Diesel Performance has taken this to heart and has come up with a great way for you guys, as enthusiasts, to go out and perform in front of a crowd, in a controlled environment, but above all, be safe doing it.

BD Diesel had a well prepped, flat, race ready track for the competitors.

The 145th Edition of Chilliwack Fair introduced a new event which brought diesel motorsports to the community and show what we are all about. With a ton of sponsors on board for this event.

All different power levels were showcased at this weekend's event.

Only 600 feet in total were allowed as the track area. Of that 300 feet where the drag racing surface and the other half was the shutdown area giving drivers enough distance to stop at the end.

Workstock:  Stock appearing turbocharger, DOT tires, no injectables, rear exit exhaust, and OEM bodies.

Taking the cake in Work Stock Class was Mark Sherriff, owner of Deputy Diesel Performance. Sherriff ran a BD powered 2008 F-350 with BD branded turbo, up pipes, manifolds, and tap shifter.

Super Single: Single turbochargers only, no size limitations, no injectables, and mandatory turbo bolts for hood stack equipped trucks.

Coming out victorious in the Super Single Class was Jesse Shirrell of Vision Diesel Performance in his 2012 F-250. This 6.7-liter Powerstroke was heavily modified with a BD S363 turbo kit and dual fueler kit.

Open Unlimited:  Any vehicle, no turbo limitations, any injectables, added weight must be secure, and turbo bolts for hood stacked equipped trucks.

Champion of the Open Unlimited Class was Cody Hopkins of Destructive Diesel Performance with his Ultimate Callout Challenge truck. Hopkins piloted his 2007 Dodge Ram armed with BD triple 74 mm turbochargers, BD 123-percent over stock injectors, and an array of BD front end parts to keep it all uniform.

When everything is said and done, the 1st annual event for BD’s diesel dirt drag looked like a blast and an extremely successful event. There was plenty of action to see and a ton of really cool custom trucks. We certainly look forward to next year’s event!
