Distorted Diesel: A One-Of-A-Kind Sierra That Can Change Shape

While out at the 2017 Ultimate Callout Challenge, we saw a ton of trucks of all shapes and sizes, but there was one that really stood out – the All Hustle Motorsports truck. We couldn’t pick what made the truck stand out so much, between the banging stereo system or the truck tilted nearly on its side due to the suspension. We just had to find out more.

Joshua Baldwin, of Cincinnati, Ohio, is the owner of the beautiful 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Denali in a Summit White. Starting out with a Denali truck is already a good platform when you’re attempting to go for a SEMA style build. To stand out at a show like this you need to go BIG. Which is exactly what Baldwin did.

As you can see, this truck wouldn’t be hard to see coming at you in the night sky – it’s bright!

We were curious to find out what the idea was behind the build because, with an end goal like this, it had to have started somewhere.”We wanted to build a truck that displayed what our shop is capable of, along with having a rolling billboard for our company when traveling on the show circuit,” Baldwin said. After seeing this, it really shows what kind of hard work it takes to build such a unique truck.

Knowing the suspension would be the greatest feat on the build, they put all hands on deck and went after it. “We initially anticipated that the hardest part to engineer would be the main suspension, however, we had as much time if not more engineering the small supporting parts to fit it all together that most people won’t even see,” Baldwin explained. He assured us that with all of the time put into the truck, he feels that they perfected it and can’t say that he would change a thing.

You Can’t Rush Perfection

With the custom air bag setup, it allows Joshua Baldwin to turn the truck in practically any direction and lean however he wishes. It’s definitely something you don’t see every day.

One wild fact about this build is how quickly things changed for the team at All Hustle Motorsports. Originally, the truck had a 14-inch Bulletproof cantilever lift, but with SEMA approaching the team decided to change it up. They then installed an air ride system, along with chroming and powdercoating everything possible.

All Hustle Motorsports takes pride in detail and it shows with this build. They powdercoated every inch of the truck they possibly could.

On October 25, 2016, they received the frame back from powdercoating and were heading to SEMA on October 29th. In just four days they went from a bare frame to a complete truck with custom interior, audio, 30 rock lights, four-corner independent air ride, and more. You can’t rush perfection, but they did.

Have you ever seen this much detail? Smoothed and powdercoated, illusion purple, notched and reinforced for bag clearance, custom chrome accents, and CNC Machined All Hustle logo accents.

Something’s you’ll notice, immediately, are the monster wheels and tires. Baldwin has a set of Specialty Forged SFC702‘s that measure out to 26 inches by 16 inches. The custom purple, and machined wheels are wrapped in 40-inch, tall by 15.5-inch, wide Fury Country Hunter M/T tires.

“We love the way the Specialty Forged wheels looked wrapped in 40-inch tires,” Badlwin said. “We wanted to design a lift that fit the wheels and matched the wheel and tire combination.”

These are enormous tires, but look at the truck. Helping turn these monster tires are a Howes Performance hydraulic steering system.

Seeing this big of a wheel and tire combination at an event was rare but, they looked really good and the tire and wheel sizes complemented each other very well.

The crew at All Hustle Motorsports custom built their own cantilever air ride system, which was completely fabricated in-house and controlled by AccuAir ELevel system. Having a flashy rig means one thing, you want to be seen. They wanted a stereo that was unlike any other, as we could hear it in the tower at the drag strip.

The AccuAir ELevel system provides full control of the air bag system. One look at that truck tilted over and you realize that this thing is wild!

Baldwin designed a blow-through-box from the bed to the inside of the cab. Inside this box were four 15-inch American Bass HD subwoofers that had enough decibels to take the breath right out of you. Hertz Mille Pro Legend mids and highs and a four-channel amplifier were also added to the already crazy level of loud.

With the truck on their way to SEMA, pulling in gawkers down every street, stereo bangin’– but what’s all that without a little comfort? They did a number on the interior with Custom Roadwire. They outfitted it in black leather and suede, with purple double diamond stitching to match the slick paint on every other inch of the truck.

To stick with the theme, the team took the purple paint to the interior. When All Hustle Motorsports shows up, you'll know it.

The truck was full of exterior lighting which, you guessed it, was paint-matched. BodyGuard bumpers, paint-matched factory GM fender flares, Recon LED tail lights, and custom powdercoated AMP research step bars. Seeing all the details and the parts used worked together was a feat in itself.

Custom steering components were paint-matched illusion purple.

This build idea wasn’t intended to be a complete powerhouse. It was to stand out. Although it wasn’t meant to win drag races, it has some engine modifications to add some pep to its step.

AccuAir, Fury, BodyGuard, and Specialty Forged decals are easily viewed on the bedsides of this beast.

As for the powerplant, it’s a 6.6-liter Duramax. This V8 Duramax had its DPF, EGR and DEF systems deleted and custom EFI Live tunes from MotorOps/Duramax Tuner are all controlled through his Edge programmer.

To get extra horsepower out of the engine, the crew went with a full five-inch exhaust system from Flo~Pro. The team at All Hustle fabricated their own fuel cell for the truck, which is equipped with a FASS sump kit and 150 GPH lift pump.

You may notice that this truck is very tall. It’s a good thing they’ve got the Amp Research step bars. To us, it’s a street legal monster truck.

After a three-month period, the team took a factory pickup truck, straight off the show room floor and turned it into a show ready SEMA build. Something like this takes a lot of help and hard- earned money.

The cost to build a truck of this stature was upwards of $150,000. It may seem like a lot of money, but once you see this truck and what it took to custom- fabricate and build something like this, the realization of it all will set in.

The Duramax was easily the Best of Show when it came to detail.

Josh Baldwin and the whole crew at All Hustle Motorsports wanted to give a huge shoutout to Specialty Forged Wheels, AccuAir, BodyGuard Bumpers, Fury Offroad, and Roadwire Custom Interior for everything. With the help of these companies, Baldwin was able to make a killer truck.
