Everything is bigger in Texas, right? Whoever coined that phrase definitely had the city of Houston in mind. Houston is the most populous city in the state of Texas and is the largest city by total area in the country. Houston’s economy since the late 20th century has a broad industrial base in energy, manufacturing, aeronautics, and transportation.
Leading in healthcare sectors and building oilfield equipment, and many other industries. Needless to say, Houston is a Mecca for just about everything, including one giant automotive scene. Houston, Texas is where Dorian Reyna was born and thus, created his legacy with Power Stroke Enginuities.
Humble Beginnings
As a first-generation American, raised in the Houston area, Dorian grew up working on diesel power plants while lending his hand to his father and uncle. He learned the functionality of Diesel engines very quickly. But it wasn’t specifically just the Ford-based Diesel engines that he learned.
Dorian's roots were laid as a young child and they stuck with him ever since. A true "gear-head" at heart, Dorian demonstrated some of the performance enhancements his team did to his race truck.
“While I have always been a Ford fan, I have always been a ford fan,” Dorian said. “My dad was a die-hard Chevy guy, but now even he drives a Power Stroke me and my brothers built for him. We drive them, work on them and race them. The ford body lines dating back to the 1930s are un-matched! Why do you think they are the best selling trucks?”
Military Time And Influence
Dorian served five years in the United States Marine Corps as a radio operator/marksmanship instructor. “I learned a lot of discipline, patience, determination, leadership and decision making,” Dorian explained. “I learned how to stay calm within a crisis, how to improvise, adapt and overcome and most importantly, teamwork. Nothing can’t be done without a team or tribe along with you.”
PSE has had several builds of there's and their customers have reached the "holy grail." Many of their clients have been featured in numerous publications as well as on display at the annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
“When times were tough, I felt determined to have my crew still paid and work flowing,” Dorian continued. “When we got flooded during Hurricane Harvey, we got over five feet of water but we still found the will and determination to keep going and push through. A lot of people came out and helped us clean shop, tools and all. When we were first starting out, people were shutting doors in our faces, not giving us the time of day. We didn’t let that stop us, we just wanted to work and move on. Patience- determination. It all comes together.”
Dorian’s upbringing and his time in the military have made Power Stroke Enginuities a tight ran ship, and the builds that come out of the shop prove that. There are something things that you can teach, but something things just come with experience.
Taking The Plunge
Dorian served his Country honorably for five years but found a need to find his way back home. He then used his GI Bill and attended Universal Technical Institute (UTI). Along with his USMC training and schooling at UTI, Dorian was equipped with the skill set to work and succeed in the job force.
He was immediately hired at a local dealership, working his way up, and making a name for himself. After eight years of serving customers independently, Dorian Reyna officially opened the doors to Power Stroke Enginuities in 2011 and hasn’t looked back.
Power Stroke Enginuities wants to be your one-stop-shop for all things Ford diesel repair, maintenance, and, performance. Dorian plans to expand the shop's current areas of expertise into a bigger aftermarket and customization push. They plan to expand their showroom inventory to offer more aftermarket accessories such as wheels, tires, suspension components, and much more!
Located in the sprawling community of North West Houston, Power Stroke Enginuities offers repairs, maintenance, and performance for the Ford-based Power Stroke Diesel engine. Each technician employed at Power Stroke Enginuities is Ford certified in both diesel and gasoline engines.
“Our current areas focus is repair, maintenance, and diesel performance,” Dorian explained. “Our customer base is broad and expansive, serving both individuals, fleets, and dealership work. We serve everyone, from the daily driven rig to the customer building their next ride to show off at SEMA.”
The Future
Texas is arguably the truck capital of the United States, and Power Stroke Enginuities intends to take full advantage of the growing areas surrounding Houston. The future looks bright for Dorian and the crew at Power Stroke Enginuities.
Business at Power Stroke Enginuities has seen steady growth over the years. The shop will see a major renovation and expansion in the next few years, increasing workspace, adding a chassis dyno, and an overall reorganization to better utilize space.
Dorian has his sights set on some major goals for Power Stroke Enginuities in the near future to include expanding the shop by at least 20,000 feet of usable space, a chassis dyno, new tools, and test and diagnostic equipment. “I wouldn’t be here today without the help and encouragement of my family and my team at Power Stroke Enginuities.”
