Sometimes, things just don’t go as planned. Ryan Milliken and the crew at Hardway Performance on a daily basis dyno pickup trucks and dial them in for maximum performance. This week was no different when they strapped Dallas Penn’s Ram to the dyno but his Cummins-powered machine is pretty unique. It doesn’t have the original engine it came with and it’s still utilizing the 68RFE transmission with a huge power goal.

Putting all of his trust in this transmission, Penn is determined to have the most powerful 68RFE-backed truck known to man and that is exactly how it panned out. But, not without a little excitement, right? With two straps on the front, six straps on the rear, when the nitrous hit, it was too much for at least two of the rear straps causing the truck to rip sideways.

Luckily, everything was okay and nothing was hurt minus those poor straps. But, after further inspection, they decided this wasn’t anything a couple extra straps couldn’t fix. Four straps later, with a total of eight straps on the back and two on the front, and help from a few wheel chocks, “War Horse” laid down a monster number of 1,606-horsepower and 2,596.80 ft/lbs of torque.

This is an incredible number and incredible feat. This goes to show a 68RFE trans can, in fact, hold some serious power. What are your thoughts on this power number through this trans? Let us know in the comments below.
