These new 3.0-Liter engines have made a statement apparently because they’re making their way into virtually everything. The 2021 Cadillac Escalade, among other models, will have the option of a big 6.2-Liter gasoline engine or the 3.0-liter diesel engine. If you’re here, you’re more likely to go with the diesel I think. What do you think? A big family sedan that can pull the boat? I think so.

Behind this 3.0-Liter Duramax LM2 engine is going to be a 10L80 ten-speed automatic transmission which is the same drivetrain as the newest versions of the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban and GMC‘s Yukon models. We’ve had a few chances to play with the 1500’s that are equipped with these setups and they certainly impress. Imagine all of that room for the family and still have those power and torque capabilities.

Other new feature options include independent rear suspension, just like the GMC and Chevrolet models, which improves on-road driving performance and makes for more cargo capacity in the third-row legroom. How much more? Ten more inches of room over its predecessor which is is a 68-percent increase. The standard model measure out to 17.6-feet long whereas the ESV model measures out to 18.9-feet.
