When it comes to late-model diesel engines, using the correct products is absolutely critical. Talk to the guys over at Liqui Moly, they understand that. The company has developed engine oils and additives that will fit within the specifications of each of the diesel engine platforms out there today, and we stopped to see them at the 2021 SEMA show in Las Vegas.

We talked with Steffen Niemietz with Liqui Moly to get the full download on what was new and why you should think about its products. On the additive side of things, the Truck Series products feature an oil treatment, DPF protector, fuel protectant, and a complete diesel system cleaner. The fuel system products are a step-by-step process, per Steffen.

“The Truck Series is our additive line for trucks. We have cleaners that will do a super-clean on your fuel system, our performance protectant that will boost cetane and lubricate, the DPF protector will force the soot to dissipate before it has time to clog up, and then our oil treatment is a truck-specific friction reducer and lubricant,” Steffen explained.

When you use this line of products, know that you need to follow the steps. You will first use the oil treatment that will pressure wash the inside of your engine, maximizing its performance. Once you have done that, you can keep it clean by using the protectant. “When using our performance protectant on the fuel side of things, you can use it after every three of four fill-ups,” Steffen said.

As for engine oil, they dropped a few different versions. The Special Tec AA 5W-40 will work for Power Stroke, Isuzu, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Toyota, and Volvo engines. For most of you, the takeaway here is that this oil is what the new Ford 6.7-liter Power Stroke calls for. If you’re looking for synthetic oil to start your late-model Ford out on, here you go.
