Some trucks just command attention, mixing raw power with undeniable presence. The Chevrolet Kodiak C4500 fits that description, especially when it received the custom touch of Sparks Motors’ team. Known as “Goliath,” a 2006 Kodiak C4500 became the shop’s latest project, transformed into a heavy hauler with looks to match its capability.

The base truck, a 2006 Chevy C4500 with an LBZ Duramax engine and Allison automatic transmission, started life as an already very capable machine. An early test involved hauling a load estimated between 30,000 to 35,000 pounds. The truck pulled great, performing way better than a one-ton truck would have, thanks to its medium-duty chassis and heavy axles. And, thanks to a four-wheel drive conversion, the truck proved that it could also get a heavy load easily up a steep dirt hill. Beyond raw power, the truck’s maneuverability was also impressive.

Dave noted the truck has sharper steering than some smaller pickups, offering tons of maneuverability. He also added, “I freaking love these Kodiaks, like obsessed with this truck,” adding, “It’s just the perfect recipe for like a heavy hauler.” This custom Chevy Kodiak C4500 became a special project because Dave Sparks originally planned to build it for himself as a new tow rig. It was built exactly to his preferred specifications. The team later decided it would make a really great giveaway truck.

Dave told viewers, “whoever wins it is going to be very very lucky,” emphasizing, “whoever wins it is getting the truck that literally I built specifically for me.” The custom work included adding over 22 lights to the front end, side rails , a custom bumper, and a light bar.

After the heavy haul, Dave stated the truck “proved itself in every way possible that was a very heavy gnarly haul.” The completed truck offers versatility.

Dave Sparks listed its many uses, saying, “because you can drive this to the grocery store … take it camping … you can make money with it.” He summarized the completed project and stated, “everything about this truck is literally perfect and it could be yours.”
