While those of us who grew up miles upon miles from the city, may or may not have participated in cow tipping, the past time has gone national. Thanks partially to Tow Mater and Lightning McQueen in the Disney hit movie Cars.
In the original film, Tow Mater shows Lightning McQueen how to tip the tractors, by scaring them when they are asleep. In real life, it is slightly harder to “tip” a cow. Not only do you have to make sure the cow is asleep, but you (and a friend) have to really give it your all, to get the cow over (so, we have been told).
This has pretty much been a country thing until recently. There seems to be a group of urban cowboys in San Francisco missing the past time. So, these urban cowboys have found the next best thing, Smart Car tipping.
While it may not seem like a logical comparison, a Smart Car is fairly similar to a cow. Cows are usually round 1500lbs and about 5 feet long. The Smart Car is roughly 1800lbs and 8 feet. Smart Cars are all over the city of San Francisco much like cows are all over rural America.
According to KRON 4 news, there were 4 Smart Cars tipped in one night. Much the same as a farmer keeps the herd close when there is trouble brewing; many owners are looking to their friends for protection. Caught at an Autozone, one Smart Car was actually hitching a ride in the bed of a Mega Cab Short Bed Ram.
Shortly after this aired, urban cowboys in Ohio started tipping Smart Cars too. Could this be the next big fad?
