Installing AMP Research’s PowerStep just got a whole lot easier and quicker. AMP Research has always built high quality power running boards. These are made of high quality materials, made to tight tolerances and their products have always been extremely reliable.

OBDIISo, how do you improve on that? Well it is simple, the hard parts are and have always been top shelf parts. But their electronics while very good, did require a little bit of effort to install. Many times you would have to remove the door panels to get access to the wiring.

Then once the wiring was exposed, you would have to “T” into it. That is if you knew which wire it was. If you didn’t know which wire, out came the test light or DVOM to probe for the right wire. Well, no more do you have to worry about any of this.

The guys at AMP Research have refined the electrical side of the installation tremendously. They recently announced a new “Plug-andPlay” system. With their new OBDII plug, you can simply plug into the OBDII port. From there, it is a matter or concealing the wires and getting everything routed into the appropriate place. While we haven’t had the opportunity to install a set yet, we would estimate that this simple feature cuts down the installation time by at least an hour if not an hour and a half.

Pass_throughAlready have something plugged into your OBDII port? Don’t worry, AMP Research, also, introduced a Pass-Through harness. This harness plugs into the factory OBDII port and splits it into two. So, the AMP Research OBDII plug can go into one, and your other electronics can plug into the second port.

Now, we have jumped the gun a little, because this isn’t available across their entire product line yet. They are rolling it out slowly starting with the 2014 GM ½ trucks. If you are interested in getting the running boards and want to know more, visit their website by clicking here. We just think this is fantastic and wanted to pass along the info.
