As we get ready to wave bye to winter and start our race season, many people are in a rush to do the last minute things needed to get their rigs ready for the upcoming season.
Many guys are pushing machine shops trying to get their engine back, while others are finally trying to tear their trucks apart to start working on them after having pushed them off into a corner for the winter. If you are looking to get into racing, maybe the best option for you is to buy someone else’s rig.
Recently, we came across a very cool ’02 Dodge 2500 that appears to be very well put together. The truck is set up to run in the Pro Street class having run a best of 6.6 seconds in the 1/8th mile at 108 mph. That equates to roughly a mid to low 10 second pass (10.5 to 10.3’s) in the quarter mile.
While the seller is advertising the truck as street legal, not 100% sure what states allow hood stacks but outside of that is appears to be street legal. There is a ton of modifications done to this truck, including moving the air conditioning between the seats!
Under the hood, is an ’04 Common Rail short block with ARP 625 studs holding down what appears to be a factory head. The owner did upgrade to Hamilton Cams springs. The injectors are ’07 400 horsepower injectors that are feed by dual CP3. After the fuel has been burned, the exhaust is sent through a Steed Speed exhaust manifold and into a S400 with a 64mm compressor wheel. The compressed air is sent through a huge custom built intercooler that not only takes the place of the standard intercooler area, but, also, the radiator. To keep the engine cool, there are two smaller radiators remote mounted. The engine is tuned with EFILive. The engine is backed by a custom built 48RE transmission controlled by a PCS standalone controller.
On the inside, there is a custom dash with tons of gauges, Kenwood stereo, and air conditioning! The truck features a full cage, which extends into the custom bed. All said and done, the seller says he has spent 2 years building this truck and it does show. The pictures look really good.
What do you think? $55k for a mid to low 10 second truck a good price?
