Almost every diesel truck owner has heard of Airaid. It’s that company that makes all sorts of high-quality filters and cold-air intake systems for a wide variety of cars and trucks. The company has an R&D facility in which it can dyno test a product while that product is being developed to make sure engineers milk it for every bit of hp and tick of torque they can get for that specific vehicle and engine application.
In cases where Airaid may not already have a specific application, you can grab one of its universal U-Build-It kits and basically create your own aftermarket replacement air intake system with a combination of the tubes offered in the kit and any number of its filters. However, the latest news from Airaid is that it has solved the perplexing problem presented by Ram diesel trucks with the Active Air box.
The new Airaid Jr. System for the 2013 to 2015 Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks with the Active-Air box-equipped 6.7-liter turbo diesel engine targets the most restrictive parts of the factory intake system: the paper filter element and the intake tube. The Airiad system combines a premium Direct-Fit Replacement Filter and an AIRAID Modular Intake Tube to provide more power and fuel economy. The OEM intake tube is corrugated and filled with baffles, which hurts airflow. The Airaid Jr. system helps straighten and improve airflow to the engine.
Aside from this new application, Airaid offers a host of other diesel truck applications, including Duramax, Power Stroke, and Cummins engines of many different vintages. What’s really cool about the Ariaid website is that it also offers dyno charts showing the hp and torque gains you can expect from its products. It also has links to all its instruction sheets, so you can see beforehand what the installation on your truck will be like. So check out the Airaid website or call (800) 498-6951 to find out how the company can help your truck.
