AirDog has given the diesel market so much to think about in terms of products. The AirDog Fuel Preporator line of filters revolutionized how we view fuel filtration. Their pumps and fuel sumps further solve the fuel delivery problems of performance diesel owners everywhere. Today we are not talking about a new offering from AirDog, but rather a look at where else this company has given back.
The originator of the AirDog, Charlie Ekstam, created the first air/fuel separator in 1993, his business grew into the multi-faceted diesel supplier we know today. In 2009 PureFlow AirDog changed hands to management by DieselRX and Shares Inc.
According to AirDog’s website, Shares Inc. is “a unique non/profit agency that provides job and life skills training to adults with developmental disabilities.”
The AirDog production and order fulfillment program is housed at DieselRX’s 70,000 square foot, ISO certified facility in Indiana. At this facility many business activities are conducted, including:
- Assembly
- Light Manufacturing
- Kitting
- Sorting
- Packaging
- Reworking
- Inspection
- Order Fulfillment
- Warehousing
- And More
The philosophy listed on the website of Shares Inc. is one of fostering growth, and independence, “…all persons with disabilities are entitled to the same opportunities to continue their growth and maximize their individual potential so that they are better able to live in and enjoy their community. By providing systematic training and exposure to all types of life experiences, persons with disabilities can become less dependent on other people and function to their full potential in society.”
This not for profit organization gives back to the community in which they do business and that is the truest form of ethical commerce. According to AirDog’s site, “…the proceeds from our DieselRX and PureFlow products are funneled directly back into programs that serve the disabled community. We are a true non-profit agency, so buying for us helps others.”
So if you were on the fence about a product, take the time to dig a little deeper and see where that product comes from. You may get a bigger smile over how it makes you feel to help others than the feeling of upgrading a part.
