SEMA 2013: Maxxis Tires Are Race Proven And Just Right For Your Rig

maxxis3

If you have never heard of Maxxis International, then listen up. The tire manufacturer is one of the world’s top makers of light truck tires, and is a major supplier to automotive manufacturers, tire distributors and retialers around the world. Maxxis makes high performance, light truck, extreme off-road, winter, truck and trailer tires for almost every vehicle, and we’re sure your rig fits in there somewhere.

Maxxis8At the 2013 SEMA Show, Maxxis had a lot to be proud of, but it was its three truck and off-road tires we were primarily interested in, and those included the Bighorn MT-762 Radial Mud Terrain, the Creepy Crawler M8090 Extreme Off-Road tire, and the Trepador M8060 Extreme Off-Road tire.

The Bighorn features staggered shoulder lugs for traction on uneven terrain, deep tread blocks with a large void-ratio pattern for superb self-cleaning in the mud, and heavy-duty sidewalls that make it puncture resistant.

A special construction design allows the Creepy Crawler from Maxxis to conform to the terrain for maximum rock crawling effectiveness. The multi-edge knob design and siping are great for slick surfaces. Richie Tay, marketing specialist at Maxxis told us, “the Bighorn and Creepy Crawler tires are both good choices for custom 4x4s, and vehicles like Wranglers and FJ Cruisers.”

The Trepador is an aggressive, directional tire with multi-curve siping that’s great on loose dirt and slippery terrain, and its multi-stage staggered shoulder pattern digs into terrain and provides superb traction. Tay commented, “This is the tire that has been used quite successfully by champion Ultra4 off-road racing competitor Shannon Campbell.”
