While we were at the Mickey Thompson Wheels And Tires booth at this year’s SEMA Show, we happened to notice one of its showcased vehicles was a custom Ford F-150. With the popularity of the F-series trucks, we wanted to have a peek and see exactly what this truck was about. Under the hood was a 3.0-liter Powerstroke. We’ve been in these trucks before and they are a blast to drive and are full of power.
As far as the guys at Mickey Thompson feel, this could be the first done-up or modified F-150 with the 3.0-liter engine. This truck has been completely gone over and it looks wild. This normal, every-day Lariat F-150 diesel has been transformed into an old-school rescue truck, coined “Project X.”
The base vehicle is a 2019 Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew chassis. For wheels and tires, naturally, it has a set of Mickey Thompson custom powder-coated Sidebiter wheels, measuring 20×12-inches, and those glossy red wheels are wrapped in the all-new Baja Pro XS tires. These new tires are 15/43-20LT and feature OMF conventional Slim-U Lock bead-lock Rings.
This truck needs to make it through any terrain, so using a Bulletproof Suspension Inc 12-inch lift kit, it can make it anywhere it needs to. Other modifications include Atlas rear leaf springs, King Shocks front and rear, Eibach front 800-pound SR front coil springs, aFe Power rear differential cover, and a set of Yukon Gear and Axle gears.
Under the hood is where the team at aFe Power really went off and done-up this ol’ truck. The Powerstroke breathes through its cold air intake, and also benefits from a Blade Runner GT intercooler and tubes, and a premium DPF-back exhaust. For tuning, this 3.0 features a Scorcher Blue Bluetooth Power Module, Scorcher Pro Programmer, and Sprint Booster Power Converter. To keep this truck in the wilderness and on the hunt for long periods of time, Mickey Thompson used Titan Fuel Tanks for an Extended Range fuel tank.
On the outside, what makes this thing look incredible are a ton of accessories. Exterior modifications are as follows:
- E & G Classics F-150 Black Mesh Grille
- KC Hilites Gravity LED 57-inch Light Bar
- KC Hilites Gravity LED G34 Pair Pack In Bumper
- Bushwacker Extend-A-Fender Smooth Finish Fender Flares
- N-FAB RDS Front Bumper
- N-FAB RBS H Pre-Runner Rear Bumper
- Go Rhino Dual Roll Over Bar
- AMP Research Power Steps
- Cervini’s Hood
- sPOD- 12V Power Distribution Systems w/ Touchscreen
- PPG Automotive Finishes paint
This is easily one of the best looking F-150’s out there — it has a sense of nostalgia mixed with the modern performance of today. What are your thoughts on this sweet Ford that Mickey Thompson has put together? Let us know in the comments below.
