SEMA 2012: AFE Gives Us A Peek At Their Latest Products

This is AFE’s 4-inch exhaust that’s designed to maximize performance in Ford F-150’s equipped with EcoBoost engines.

Even some of the most devout drag racers and street car enthusiasts have a sweet spot for trucks and off-road vehicles. Usually during the off-season of racing or even as a daily commuter we rely on trucks and Jeep vehicles to get us to work, take us through inclement weather.

That’s why there are companies like Advanced Flow Engineering (AFE) out there to dedicate a large portion of their business to the vast truck market. We caught up with them at SEMA 2012 for a little more insight into their newest releases. We spoke to Jason Bruce, AFE Sales and Marketing, for some more information.

The first product he showed us was their new line of cold-air intakes and throttle body spacers made for late model Jeep vehicles equipped with the new 3.7L Pentastar V6. Already a potent engine from the factory, these new products from AFE help boost Pentastar’s performance, fuel economy and torque to levels that combined, would closely match those of a stock 5.7L HEMI V8.

The air intakes are available in either black power coat or a high-luster chrome finish that would bring a bit of style and class to any Jeep vehicle’s engine bay, while the throttle body just increases the velocity that the air intake brings in.

Of course, for increased sound quality and performance AFE recommends their mandrel bent, twisted steel headers for the earlier, ’00-06 Jeep Wranglers equipped with the 4.0L I-6. It’s 409 stainless steel design ensures the highest regard to quality and high performance thanks to its TIG-welded construction.

We spotted a brand new pair of Jeep headers, an EcoBoost programmer and new throttle body spacers for both vehicles at this year's SEMA show.

But not ones to overlook the incredible performance that the Ford EcoBoost offers, AFE has also released a 4-inch mandrel bent exhaust for the boosted V6-equipped F-150’s. Bruce told us that not only does the exhaust increase looks and performance of a late-model F-150, but it actually gives it a unique sound that’s quite similar to that of a diesel.

Like their Jeep lineup of parts, an exhaust upgrade wouldn’t be complete without the help of a cold-air kit, and a throttle body spacer and naturally, AFE answered the call with their patented cold-air intakes for EcoBoost F-150’s. Manufactured to be a low restriction induction system the air intakes are available in both black powder coat and a high luster chrome finish as well.

Another awesome product in their lineup in the Scorcher EcoBoost tuner, that can increase the power output of your boosted Ford up to an additional 54hp and 68 ft-lbs. of torque. It plugs right into OBD-II port and can recalibrate your truck’s ECU in a matter of minutes.

AFE also markets a cold-air system for late model Ranger owners out there looking for additional horsepower and torque featuring all of the same benefits and technology of their other kits, along with both black powder coated and chrome polished options.
