SEMA 2014: SCT And Bully Dog Sharing Tech and Cloud Tuning

Earlier this year SCT and Bully Dog merged under the Derive Systems banner. The brands will continue to generate unique products and technologies under their own names, according to Derive’s Marissa Muller, “Through the integration process, we built a platform, where we could share technology, and resources.” Muller says this bolsters both brands by sharing technology, resources, and customer service capabilities.

Technology sharing across the brands is evident in two upcoming products from SCT and Bully Dog. The popular Bully Dog GT tuner for 2015 will have SCT’s custom tuning capability. Allowing owners the ability to utilize the device functions, with the additional benefit of custom tailored tuning.

On the SCT side of things, the very popular Livewire device is getting the Bully Dog feature of loading tunes on the fly. This will allow Livewire users to switch tunes by pressing a button without having to reflash the vehicle. The newest version of Livewire will also be available after the first of the year.

Cloud Versatility

Muller says that SCT has received customer feedback showing their customers value ease of use and simplicity. Taking advantage of the latest technology, SCT has found a way to speed up sending and downloading their custom tunes. This will be done through the cloud.

The cloud really eliminates redundancies and expedites the tune and the fun out of the vehicle

Rather than emailing out a custom tune, the tunes will be loaded to the cloud. Users can then download them directly through their WiFi enabled device and then load them to the vehicle. This takes multiple steps out of the tuning process, and streamlines it tremendously. “The cloud really eliminates redundancies and expedites the tune and the fun out of the vehicle,” says Muller. Cloud tuning will be available on the new WiFi enabled Livewire, and X4 in the SCT line, and the GT in the Bully Dog line.

Derive also received two awards at the SEMA show, including the first ever Ambassador award going to SCT and CEO Rick Trudo. Muller says “We are pushing aggressively into international markets and we won the first SEMA ambassador award.”

The company also received a Global Media Award, for the Bully Dog GT Platinum with all gas applications rolled into a single SKU, under the GT Platinum gas product.

2015 should be an exciting year for SCT and Bully Dog, for more information on their current and upcoming products, be sure to check out their web-sites.
