If you haven’t noticed by now, the Chevrolet Colorado is reinvigorating the mid-size truck market with its rugged good looks and array of capable powertrains. The popularity of GM’s new mid-size isn’t lost on Chevrolet Performance who has just rolled out a new line of aftermarket goodies, designed by the same people who built the truck, for you to modify to your heart’s content.
Starting out with a few crowd favorites, Chevrolet Performance has rolled out a new cold air intake along with a higher flowing exhaust to give your Colorado (or Canyon) a bit more bite and bark. According to Mark Dickens, the director of performance variants and parts for Chevrolet Performance, each of the new components endure the same test that stock pieces have to go through. This means that each component is sure to last as least as long as its stock counterparts.
Not only are the new components put through the same rigorous testing as the stock units, they are also CARB OE certified, meaning they are all 50-state legal. The exhaust systems are built using 304 stainless steel, which means they’ll probably outlast the truck and will look great while doing it. The exhaust system also boasts an additional 10 horsepower and the engineers have gone to great lengths to ensure that the exhaust has a throaty tone while eliminating the dreaded freeway drone.
To increase the Colorado’s off-road capabilities, Chevrolet Performance is also offering a Duratrack 17 inch off-road tire. The somewhat knobby tire from Goodyear increases the truck’s grip and thus capabilities when running the trails. And while you are off road, Chevrolet Performance has the under carriage of your truck covered, too, with new skid plates.
Chevrolet also puts a bow on top of it all (pun intended) with its new light up bowtie grilles. We can tell you from personal experience that these things look fantastic in person. But the best news is that you can tick all this on the order form and Chevrolet will install them for you. Now you can hit the trails running.
