Greg Weld, a successful Sprint Car racer with numerous wins and championships under his belt, set out to create a wheel that could handle the severity of top level sprint car racing. The result was a wheel that not only worked well for the racer, but a product that would find demand with his competitors as well.
In 2017, 50 years later, the company, founded from competitive edge, continues to succeed in being the choice of world champions and demanding enthusiasts across drag racing, sprint car racing, road racing, and dirt late-models and so much more.
The company, based in Kansas City, Missouri, expanded over the years to offer wheels for every discipline including off road trucks, luxury and sports cars, road racing cars, ATVs, and UTVs through brands such as CCW and Hiper. CCW can be found on many types of road going cars including Porsche 911, BMW M3, Corvette C6 Z06, Shelby Mustang GT350, Dodge Hellcat Challenger/Charger and Chevy Camaro Z28. Hiper is a popular choice of serious ATV and UTV racers.
The 50th anniversary year will have many aspects of the celebration. According to Vice President of Sales, Chris Bovis, “In 2017, WELD Racing will celebrate our 50th anniversary by embracing our past, present, and future. WELD will unveil unique promotions at key events throughout the year including the 2017 Knoxville Nationals and the NHRA U.S. Nationals. Starting in January 2017, WELD will also launch the “50 Weeks of WELD” social media campaign, highlighting racing milestones over the past 50 years achieved by drivers running on WELD wheels.”
