Airaid‘s Mike Morrow was excited to show off the company’s new cold-air induction kit for the 2017 6.6-liter Duramax engine, which fits all Chevy and GMC 2500 and 3500 trucks using this powerplant.
“We were able to do some tweaking and tuning to get the best tube available for these applications,” says Morrow.
What sets the kit apart is that the airbox is not completely enclosed as it is in many other Airaid applications. Instead, the company has developed the airbox with an open top, which uses the hood to seal the airbox. The airbox itself is larger than the factory airbox, which Morrow says is the key to the improved performance it offers.
“The airbox is as big as we can physically make it. This allows us to use a very large filter with big deep pleats to get as much air through it as we can. We have two part numbers: one with our SynthaFlow oiled cotton gauze filter, and one with our SynthaMax filter, which is a completely dry filtration media,” says Morrow.
The synthetic filtration media of both the SynthaFlow and SynthaMax filters are washable and reusable and are capable of capturing the smallest harmful particles to help protect your engine.
By using the factory pickup points to help get the air into the airbox, the Airaid kit provides an OE-style experience combined with the performance gain only the aftermarket can supply.
