Obviously, in our industry towing is pretty common, but sometimes you don’t have the hitch for the scenario you are in or the pins that can really withstand the weight.
“Curt is the leading manufacturer of USA-made hitches, with a complete line towing products,” Travis Mai explained. “We offer the broadest selection of custom-fit receiver hitches for nearly every vehicle on the road today. We also offer gooseneck, 5th wheel, and weight distribution hitches, as well as electrical components, ball mounts, trailer balls, cargo carriers, bike racks and other towing accessories,” Mai said.
One of the biggest things for Curt this year is expanding into the three-inch receiver mount market. All of the new Ford vehicles come with a 3-inch receiver tube that’s rated to 21,000-pounds per standard towing.
“We wanted to be able to supply that market with ball mounts that actually test out at those ratings,” Mai said. “We consider these products to be very important because they are mostly a safety product.”
If you aren’t going to be towing 21,000-pounds, they also offer an adapter to ch0ke the three-inch down to two inch. Also offered is a tow strap mount rated from 13,000-pounds in any direction.”These aren’t glamorous, but these three-inch receiver pins we now offer have a shear strength of 21,000-pounds,” Mai said.
