When it comes to the SEMA Show, you have companies that strive to bring their newest products to market primarily at this show. Once again, BD Diesel Performance has dropped a ton of new items for the diesel market, and we’re going to highlight a few of these things here.
For starters, let’s talk about BD’s Howler VGT turbo. The Howler VGT is an HE351 turbocharger that you would primarily see on a late-model 6.7-liter Cummins. These are a variable-geometry turbo and come equipped with an exhaust brake. Many drivers will keep these turbos on their truck or upgrade to a turbo that has an exhaust brake for the convenience of it.
Like the 6.7-liter Screamer turbos, the 5.9-liter trucks are now able to get the same reliable power and torque with a Howler turbo and get the convenience of an exhaust brake. Like Project TowBoat, where we installed a BD Screamer charger on a 6.7-liter truck and added a Pusher Intakes compound kit, this turbo gives you that same ability with your older 5.9-liter.
When you order your new turbocharger for your 5.9, just know that you have two options. Delton Sensenig, a sales associate for BD Diesel Performance, explained to us that you do have the option to use just a stock HE351 turbo. “You can use a stock HE351 or upgrade to our Howler,” Sensenig said. “If you’re looking to make any power, the Screamer is the clear option, though. These turbos have been tested and are capable of a solid number.”
Other hot news from BD Diesel is that Screamer-series turbos are widening their reach into the Duramax-powered trucks as well as the late-model Ford 6.7-liter Power Strokes. We can’t wait to get our hands on some of these items and see what they are capable of. Stay tuned to Diesel Army for the latest news from the 2019 SEMA Show.
