Along with the consumer-grade 2025 RAM 2500 Heavy Duty and RAM 3500 Heavy Duty pickups, RAM also recently released its refreshed 3500, 4500, and 5500 chassis cab trucks. Much like their pickup counterparts, these commercial-grade trucks benefit from a host of improvements both inside and out.
“The RAM Chassis Cab line represents our hardest working trucks — designed and engineered to run at maximum capability all day, every day,” says RAM Brand CEO Tim Kuniskis. “In this segment, durability, low cost of ownership and innovative up-fitter solutions are top of mind for our customers and our engineering and planning teams.”
Powering the trucks is a new 6.7-liter Cummins I-6 turbodiesel engine. This engine produces 360 hp with 800 lb-ft of torque and is backed by a new TorqueFlite HD (ZF Powerline) eight-speed automatic transmission. While power output is down quite a bit from the consumer pickup’s 430 hp and 1,075 lb-ft, it’s important to remember that these trucks fall into the EPA’s “medium duty” classification and as such are subject to a different set of emissions regulations that often dictates a lower engine output.
Provisions for power take-off (PTO) are provided on both the left and right side of the drivetrain. Maximum towing raises to 34,540 pounds for RAM 5500 trucks, while payload reaches a peak of 11,960 pounds. Oil change intervals have been extended to 12,000 miles for those running on B20 biodiesel and a staggering 15,000 miles running on traditional diesel.
For 2025, RAM’s chassis cab trucks feature advanced technology inside. New standard safety features include adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning, along with available front and rear parking sensors. Drowsy driver detection, traffic sign recognition, and active lane management are available. Each RAM Chassis Cab truck also comes equipped with the latest Uconnect 5 infotainment system paired with an improved 12.0-inch vertically oriented center display screen. Running on the latest Atlantis electrical architecture, the system offers more memory than previous models, responds to inputs in half-a-second, and runs operations five times faster than previous systems. A 12.3-inch digital driver information center is also standard and offers nearly two dozen different sets of vital information.
Along with the advanced tech inside, RAM has freshened up the exterior styling of its heaviest duty trucks as well. Updated grilles are found on all models, with each trim featuring a unique design. LED headlamps are now standard on all trucks. New premium LED headlamps, including bi-functional projectors, are also available.
The RAM Chassis Cab lineup includes both Trademan and Big Horn trims and is set to arrive at dealers in the first quarter of 2025. The RAM 3500 Chassis Cab begins at $49,285, with the RAM 4500 Chassis Cab starting at $55,660, and the RAM 5500 Chassis cab at $56,770.
