Get ready for some rip-roarin’ fun come springtime. The Bowman Dragway, in Bowman, South Carolina, is going to host the March Mayhem event on Sunday, March 30th (was Saturday, March 29th).
Starting at 3:30 p.m., folks will get to see and participate in some sweet races. First up is the 28″ Tire Shoot Out, followed by the Drag Radial Tire Shoot Out. A 10-car minimum is required, and racers will be competing for a $1000 purse.
The third and arguably most awesome race is the Diesel Truck Shoot Out. Just like the previous two classes, a $1000 purse is at stake.
Adding some excitement to the race are three significant contenders: Brad Thompson, Josh Powell, and Jonathan Cheshire.
Thompson’s chariot is a 2009 Chevy 2500HD, armed to the teeth with some deadly mods. These include a four-inch lift kit, 33-inch tires on 20×12 wheels, a Suncoast transmission, a big turbo, massive Exergy injectors, and dual PPE CP3 high-pressure fuel systems.
Adding a bit of an edge to this Chevy is a custom tune done by Kory Willis, which is sure to give that LMM Duramax some killer power and torque to compete with on the day of the event. It definitely helps that Duramax tuning is Willis’ specialty.
Josh Powell, on the other hand, is looking to prove himself with his black ’08 F-250. He plans to serve up some cold defeat with a tuned 6.4L Power Stroke courtesy of Spartan Diesel, along with a mean S300/S400 compound turbo setup giving him horsepower and torque gains all throughout the power band.
Rounding out the truck are a Mushimoto intercooler, Pureflow AirDog 2 fuel pump, King shocks, and 20″ Ultra Motorsport rims wrapped in mean 44″ Michelin XZL tires. Talk about badass.
Then, there’s Jonathan Cheshire. His ride is the unassuming type, as you can see; it’s bone stock, but Cheshire’s confidence and cojones more than make up for the lack in aftermarket madness.
He claims his 4×4 is “stock and dangerous.” Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
