The two day event in Columbus, Texas certainly saw some dirt flying as the Texas Truck and Tractor Pulling Association (TTTPA) rolled into town May 3rd and 4th. The pulling started at about 7 pm and went well into the evening as all 7 classes made the pull.
The two diesel classes (Super Street and Hot Farm) were certainly entertaining to watch as there were 8 pullers in Super Street and 5 in Hot Farm.
On Friday, Chris Ryan driving “Mutt” put the smack down on the entire Super Street class pulling 346 feet, a full 14 feet further than Darvin Bradley in “Half Breed”. Bradley was 0.06 inches ahead of Venessa Finstad driving “Uncommon”. The current point leader, Buck Hyndman driving “Ready To Rumble” ended up pulling 324.07 feet, over 20 feet behind last years winner (Ryan).
In Hot Farm, Clint Metting continued his hot streak with a pull of 328 feet in “Bull Frogg”. That bested second place Bryant Beazley in “Feral Farmall 1206’s” 326 feet. Randall Brockman in “Red Warrior Express” took third and Metting took 4th, also, in his “Bull Dozin” Deere. John Link was disqualified and wasn’t able to make a pull Friday.
When Saturday came around, you can sure bet that Link was going to try and make up for his DQ as he was just 1 point behind Metting leading up to this pull. When the smoke settled, he had indeed made a statement with a pull of 320 feet to Metting’s 317 in “Bull Frogg”. Metting, also, bested his Friday pull managing to get third place with a pull of 312 feet.
In Super Street, Hyndman was ready to get back on track and stand on top of the podium when he hooked. Unfortunately, he was out pulled by 10 feet. Ryan basically duplicated his previous night’s pull with another 346 foot run. Shaun Braun in “Bad Asset” out pulled Finstad for third place.
