Every year when a new model car or truck comes out, aftermarket companies are given the task to develop products for these units or recreate their proven products to work on the new platforms. Goerend Transmission is no different as they applied and received their new 2020-model Duramax engine and Allison transmission.
This new engine and transmission are obviously brand new, and wanting to be ahead of the game on product development, Goerend has their own to test with now. “This new engine will help us in product development and R&D for the new Allison / Goerend torque converters,” said Marisa with Goerend Transmission.”By using the same engine that comes in the 2020 trucks, it ensures our testing will duplicate real-world use in our customers’ trucks.”
There was a bit of backlash when these trucks came out about their exterior looks but whether you like the looks of it or not, the truck performs. We got to try them out in Jackson Hole, Wyoming a few months back and these trucks are serious. After all, these 6.6-liter Duramax engines are putting out 910 lb-ft of torque so you can imagine we’ll need parts to handle it.
Starting out at these power and torque levels will make even bigger power and torque that much easier to achieve. With that being said, Goerend is already putting together a winning combination for these trucks.
