Bypass Oil Filter Add-On Cleans Oil Better Than New

Imagine pouring your engine oil in and being able to not worry about draining and replacing it for 100,000 miles. I can hear you saying “that will never happen”, right? Well, not so fast. It’s certainly not impossible, especially after hearing about Hot Shot’s Secret‘s oil bypass filter. From brand-specific to universal fit, Hot Shot’s has something for virtually everything.

But before we dig into what this contraption actually does, let’s talk about what your factory oil filter is doing. The factory filter attached to your engine takes on running oil and filters it down to 15-micron before running back into the system to be reused. It’s something you frequently change and you don’t even think about it. Well, your engine would appreciate the thought of you supplying it with better lubricants and keeping them clean, right?

In the illustration above, you can see how this kit will plumb and work. You’ll have a connection at the oil filter housing on the in-flow, through the Frantz filter out into the oil-fill cap on the out-flow. It’s set up to be installed in minutes.

The Oil Bypass System, also known as a FRANTZ filter, does so much more. Yes, the oil filter does a good job of keeping the larger items out of the system but the real damaging parts in your oil are much smaller than that. That is when the Frantz filter comes in. This kit will provide filtration down to 2-micron and then it plumbs the refined oil back into the engine cleaner than ever.

The Frantz filter kit works perfectly for virtually everything and when mixed with their Blue Diamond oil, it’s not unheard of to go over 100,000 miles on the same oil while using TBN Booster to lengthen the oil’s lifespan. That’s right, 100,000 miles is possible. Over time, your oil will break down and lose its strength but with all of the Hot Shot’s Secret’s additives available, you can keep those numbers in check.

This filter kit achieves better filtration than the OEM system because of its unique design and capabilities. Additionally, the Frantz filter uses depth filtration rather than OEM accordion-style media. On OEM filters, the oil passes through a thin, single-layer media, whereas with the Frantz system, the oil runs through the entire depth of the filter which is about 5 inches of media. It has been said that after the installation of a kit, you can restore your oil to new condition within 300 miles.

A Frantz filter kit comes with the necessary hoses, quick-disconnect fittings, hardware, thread sealant, and a new oil-fill cap.

The purpose behind this is to deliver your engine a clean supply of oil that is free of debris and wear metals. In fact, in recent testing, the Frantz system has proven to work so well that it cleaned new oil and made it a better product. Are you getting clean oil in your engine? It doesn’t seem like it. In this test, a Ford F-350 with a 6.0-liter Power Stroke engine had over 215,000 miles.

The initial sample was drawn from the dirty motor oil that had been run for 4,711 miles and was close to its next scheduled oil change. The test revealed 41,182 contaminating particles at 2 microns in just this small sample.

The next sample was drawn from the same dirty oil (without being changed) after adding a Frantz Filter for just 200 miles. This test revealed just 1,641 contaminating particles at 2 microns. That is a 96-percent decrease in contamination after just 200 miles.

The final sample taken was from brand new Shell Rotella Motor Oil, which revealed 1,818 contaminating particles at 2 microns. When comparing the analysis of running dirty oil through the Frantz Filter for 200 miles to the analysis of brand-new oil, it is evident that the Frantz filter keeps your oil analytically cleaner than brand-new oil.

It’s pretty unbelievable how easy these oil bypass filter kits are to install for how much they can do. We fitted a 2014 Ram with one of these and have had a definite improvement in oil longevity.
