Tech Thursday-Is Driven Diesel’s Pre/Post Fuel Filter What You Need?

Power Stroke specialists over at Strictly Diesel have been working on upgrades for your Ford trucks for years. They strive to bring the Power Stroke community top of the line products that offer you the most for your money. At any rate, their latest release is their Driven Diesel Pre/Post Fuel Filter kit. This kit is designed to work as the filtration system when you use their fuel bowl delete for 1999-2003 7.3L trucks.

In the past, the pre-pump and post-pump filter kits were in different locations under the truck. You were left with deciding where to install this that made it most convenient for you, but with this kit, it utilizes the same housing that houses the filters. This takes the guess work out of it and makes for a much cleaner look underneath the truck.

We talked with Gary Manscher at Strictly Diesel about this release and he shared more information about this kit. “We are excited to release this to our 7.3L community and know they’ll like the revisions. For our performance-driven owners, we will have a more performance-based setup soon which will allow the use of a 5/8″ pick up or sump,” Manscher said.

Pre/Post Filter Kit

For those of you out there that are starting with a clean canvas, this is perfect for you and your 7.3. Strictly has taken their extremely popular Driven Diesel “Hutch Mod” kit and upgraded it to include everything you need to run it with their 7.3L Fuel Bowl Delete / Regulated Return. The kit includes the in-tank modifications, pre-pump fuel filter, fuel pump relocation (using your stock fuel pump), post-pump fuel, and all of the hose, wiring, and fittings necessary to complete the installation.

“Whether you are installing a fuel bowl delete for performance purposes, or just sick of dealing with all the leaks from the stock fuel filter bowl, this setup will provide all of the filtration you need in a super clean installation package,” Manscher said. When you couple our Driven Diesel Fuel Bowl Delete Regulated Return kit, this setup will give every truck owner all of the benefits of the famous “Hutch Mod”, better overall fuel filtration, easier and less expensive filter maintenance, and the peace of mind that comes with getting rid of that leak/crack prone stock fuel filter bowl.

Manscher added that it is recommended to adds two of the Filter Head Ball Valves to your order because it makes servicing the filters much cleaner and easier. This kit is most ideal for those of you who have mild modifications. This includes basic chip, intake, exhaust, and an upgraded injector.

Performance Customers

For those of you who are really looking to pump up the numbers, this is for you. If you know that you’re going to be doing some serious upgrades down the road, but you aren’t ready for the full high-performance kit yet, check out their sump kit and the 5/8″ pickup versions of this kit that is coming out soon.

What this does is allows you to install your sump or large pickup tube, connect them through the 5/8″ hose to the same filter setup, reuse your existing stock fuel pump and then easily upgrade to a larger pump at a later time.

“You will simply add a second stock pump or larger high volume pump to the mounting bracket, change the pre-filter to pump hose accordingly, install an upgraded pump wiring harness, swap to a BF1252 filter and you have upgraded to one of our “Race Fuel Supply Kit” setups. This is a great option for doing your fuel system in stages, and not running big race fuel pumps until your setup needs them,” Manscher explained.
