Texas’ 1 Way Diesel Transplants A Cummins Into A Lamborghini

I have come across some fascinating engine swaps in a Lamborghini in the past. However, I had never seen a diesel engine in a Lamborghini until I stumbled upon this one. The team at 1 Way Diesel Performance discovered a completely destroyed 2004 Lamborghini Gallardo and took it upon themselves not only to revive it, but also to install a twin-turbo straight-six Cummins diesel engine in the engine bay. The Motor Trend show, Texas Metal: Loud and Lifted, featured this Gallardo, documenting the entire build process from beginning to end. When the team found nothing but a shell of a Gallardo, it was a daunting task but they were up for it.

When you think about it, this is a lot of engine and turbos inside a supercar. This had to have taken a ton of man hours and measuring three and four times to get this to fit and work properly.

After straightening the frame, they purchased a new quarter panel and hood to complete the car’s body. They then cut out the firewall and custom-fabricated it to accommodate the massive Cummins diesel engine. Everything from the motor mounts to the header and intake manifold had to be custom fabricated to fit the engine. This is not only super cool, but it is also downright impressive. I wonder what Ferruccio Lamborghini would think.

Despite being an unusual choice for a diesel swap, the team at 1 Way Diesel Performance retained some of the car’s original character by pairing the Cummins engine with a six-speed manual transmission. Apart from the protruding firewall, the interior looks factory, with a slightly modified Gallardo dash, seats, and steering wheel.

If you didn’t hear the engine running and took a peek inside, they would never know what was actually going on.

Although we weren’t blessed with being able to hear the sound of the twin-turbo Cummins, 1 Way Diesel Performance did upload some videos of this hot rod. While you’re expecting that high-pitched V10, this exotic typically has, that isn’t the case.

“We don’t know about you, but we couldn’t be more proud of this stunning, one-of-a-kind build. Everyone here at 1 Way Diesel Performance put their heart and souls into building this thing. Twin turbos and an inline-six Cummins engine mixed with a 2004 Lamborghini Gallardo,” 1 Way Diesel.

Not only is this exotic cool, but that color is also popping, too.

For Lambo purists, this is probably sacrilege, however, for those of us who love diesel engine swaps and being unique, this is pure awesomeness. It is hard not to be impressed with what they have done here.
