I feel like Jeeps and trucks go hand in hand. For those you who like trucks, you probably don’t mind Jeeps either. No? What if I told you that the 2021 Jeep Gladiator will have a diesel-powered option? Well, it’s true. For $41,040, you can get your own starting next year and I can’t wait to see how they perform. Are they really worth the money?

I’m sure you’re wondering what to expect with one of these and I can fill you on the available details as of now. The Gladiator will feature a 3.0-Liter V-6 turbo-diesel option that outputs 260-horsepower and 442-lb/ft of torque. While that doesn’t seem like a lot compared to what you’re probably used to but this thing would be a climbing monster with the gearing and that amount of torque.

What are your thoughts on the new Gladiator? Personally, I can dig it. The looks of a Jeep with the bed of a truck. Better yet, it can be diesel-powered.

The other diesel engine option will be an EcoDiesel that is available in the Sport, Rubicon, and Overland models and is expected to boost efficiency and range compared to the standard 3.0-Liter option. Starting in the third quarter of this year, you can begin getting your own EcoDiesel Gladiators. As for the driveline, these will feature the eight-speed automatic transmission that is calibrated specifically to work at low, off-roading speeds and with the increased torque output of the engine.
