ARP Bolts Support This 6.4’s Hardcore Lifestyle

The Power Stroke was like a movie franchise that started off great but got hit with worse and worse sequels as time went on. But the great thing about the Power Stroke is that it can be reworked and rebuilt to be totally amazing. In the case of Jason Loeliger and his awesome 2010 crew cab, the 6.4-liter received some buffs that make it capable of taking on anything in its path.

devilmountaindiesel_7We talked to Jason to find out more about the pickup and how ARP and its grade-A hardware made the truck able to withstand abuse, as well as keep it running strong for the foreseeable future. He bought the truck in early 2015 with a mind toward performance upgrades, saying that he had already owned a built-out 6.0 and found I was making the same numbers as a stock 6.4, so I went for the next-gen truck.”

As Jason envisioned it, the truck was meant to showcase both what he does at his shop, Devil Mountain Diesel, and how durable a diesel can be. “We yanked the cab off, went through the motor, rebuilt the long block, and did everything from the pistons up,” he said. “We worked with Bulletproof Diesel and had them make a water pump, oil cooler, and EGR cooler for us. We o-ringed the heads and installed a custom turbocharger setup from Turbo Resource, pushing between 50 to 60 pounds of pressure.”

With head studs from ARP, this Power Stroke is prepped for the worst.

ARP’s contribution to the rebuild was in its reliable head studs, which when stock, are a known issue with the later-model Power Strokes. As Jason stated, “ARP makes a great product and they’ve always done right by me. No joke, those head studs are the most important part of fixing a head or preventing head gasket failure, as I see it.”

All told, the truck is now able to take care of business, and then some. Jason couldn’t provide proven dyno records at the time of this writing, but guessed he was probably making around 800 horsepower and 900 pound-feet of torque. If you live near the Bay Area and want to soup up your rig, consider checking out Devil Mountain Diesel, and don’t forget to peruse ARP’s website and Facebook page for more details on the company’s great products.
