If you had told us there was a YouTube channel featuring American dudes hooning the living crap out of cars and trucks, all while filming with glorious high-definition cameras, we would have told you to take a number because there’s no shortage of these channels all vying for attention. But what we like about Haggard Garage is that they do the work themselves to get their vehicles built out and ready to rumble.
A large part of the team’s content is devoted to the cars they own, from Mazda Miatas to BMW E36s. But to celebrate reaching 300,000-plus subscribers on YouTube, the guys decided to inject their hooning shenanigans with a high dose of ‘Murica. They did this by taking two vans – one a Ford Econoline, the other a Chevy Van – and strapping them together for an all-out tug-of-war.
The background of the vehicles is explained: the Ford van has the 7.3-liter Power Stroke V8, a behemoth of a motor that has more than enough heft to get the Econoline out of its own way. However, its tires are extremely worn out, which will affect its traction. The Chevy, meanwhile, is powered by a far less torquey 350 cubic-inch, small-block gas V8, yet its tires are brand new. So how does this play out, exactly?
After a best two out of three, we’re happy to see that the diesel Ford was crowned the victor. All the Chevy had to show for its efforts was a long set of skid marks on the asphalt, as well as a “smoke show” like one of the Haggard Garage guys described. Diesel or shame, folks, that’s all there is to it.
