We get to be a part of some pretty amazing things and install some crazy parts in the shop, but one thing that we always like to see is what you, our readers are up to. Daniel Calvert first reached out and showed us a picture of his monster Ford F-350, we knew we wanted to find out more.
This is far from your ordinary work truck and is evolving into something in a league of its own. The path has not always been easy. Daniel has had to overcome plenty of obstacles to get the truck to look the way it does today.
The truck is a 2010 F-350 6.4-liter Powerstroke with a custom made 4-link suspension and tube chassis, Axletech 4000 steer axles with air lockers, Overtime CNC monster truck nitro shocks, coilovers, and rams, custom built billet, polished transfer case, Michelin 24R21 tires, custom made rims, F-650 4-piston brake calipers, four-wheel disc machined down to the Axletech rotors, and a dump bed with plenty more still coming.
“I had very little done,” Daniel said. “Then I had issues with some shops stealing parts and damaging my truck. I’ve been without it for almost two years now and finally found a shop to actually work on it not make excuses.”
This is not a vehicle you see every day, so we had to ask Daniel what the idea was behind such a massive build. “I always wanted monster style truck to daily drive,” Daniel laughed. “I started saving everything I could. I had dealt with some shops in Pennsylvania that promised the world and said they were the best. Well six months later no work was done, and there were missing parts and the price tripled.”
A setback like that would push most people to the brink of stopping the project, but Daniel pushed on. “I picked the truck up then went to Overkill Racing and Chassis in New Mexico. During all this my dad died from cancer as he was exposed to agent orange. He had a tumor the size of a football on the outside of his body. My brother couldn’t deal with his loss and took his own life. My Mom and I each had a cancer scare, and I was going broke doing this build.”
Daniel said, “When it’s done it will get fresh paint, a wrap, and a metal plate in the cradle with logos of cancer and veterans items.” Keep checking back for updates as we follow the build and wait patiently to see how the build finishes up.
