Ramping up a diesel’s power potential is why you go to BD Diesel Performance. A wide variety of products made by the company are all geared toward kicking up the engine’s power curve a notch, and here at the 2016 SEMA Show, we had quite a few to look over.
We started with the Rumble B kit. This was the offering geared toward users who wanted a little more oomph in their street truck. “We give the users a cold air intake kit so they aren’t just sticking an air filter and making the engine work with already warm air,” said BD’s Brian Roth. “We also offer our wastegated manifold with this kit, so if users want to go up higher in pressures or speed, they don’t have to worry about blowing the turbocharger up.”
BD Diesel's Rumble B kit comes with a wastegated manifold so that users can run higher boost or speed and not need to worry about destroying the turbocharger.
Roth was able to give us the lowdown on the Cobra kit. “This is more for the 800 to 1,400-horsepower applications, but it also allows the installer to keep the air conditioning and shock tower locations right where they are,” he said.
Afterward, we ended on the Scorpion kit, now ready for production (it was on display last year as a prototype). This one was suited for the 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 and could handle up to 650 horsepower. “It might look like this would collide with the hood, but it doesn’t,” said Roth. “The turbocharger rests in between the cast iron manifolds and replaces the stock turbocharger.”
The Scorpion intake comes with a high-performance T4 flanged exhaust manifold, stainless steel heatshield, and crossover tube, and still manages to fit underhood without any modifications.
Adding to all of this was the fact that all of BD Diesel’s parts are manufactured and machined in Canada, where the company is headquartered. “Overseas manufacturing just doesn’t have the level of quality we like to see,” said Roth. “By having our parts made at home, we have that level of quality control and oversight that makes our products better.”
BD Diesel’s devotion to making accessible power to diesel owners was readily apparent here at SEMA 2016, and who can’t get behind that? We certainly can. Check out more on BD Diesel’s website, and stay tuned for more SEMA coverage!
